Mistakes doom Canes in 4-3 loss in Vancouver

Poor defensive coverage and a soft 3rd period goal sent the Carolina Hurricanes to their 4th straight defeat, 4-3, in Vancouver. The setback drops Carolina out of playoff position and to a 14-12-1 record on the year. Jordan Martinook, Brady Skjei and Stefan Noesen each scored in the loss.

The Carolina Hurricanes were done almost before it started, conceding two goals in the first 41 seconds of the game in a 6-1 loss to the Oilers. Edmonton led 4-0 after the first period and the rest was just accounting. They'll try and figure it out Thursday when they play in Calgary.

The Hurricanes dominated the Sabres Saturday night at PNC Arena, got 2 goals from Sebastian Aho and scored twice on the power play to extend their points streak to 4 straight games. Teuvo Teravainen had a goal and an assist. Andrei Svechnikov, Martin Necas, Jaccob Slavin and Brent Burns each had 2 assists and Brady Skjei added a shorthanded goal in the 3rd period. The Hurricanes start a six game road trip Monday night in Winnipeg.

Canes lose overtime heartbreaker to Islanders, 5-4

The Carolina Hurricanes suffered an overtime loss to the New York Islanders in spite of out-shooting New York by nearly 3-to-1! Carolina put 43 shots on Isles' goalie Symeon Varlamov, and scored 4 times. But, New York got five past Pyotr Kochetkov on just 16 shots on goal. A week ago the Hurricanes saw the Lightning score 8 on just 14 shots. Jalen Chatfield, Jordan Staal, Jack Drury and Sebastian Aho all scored as the Hurricanes failed in their attempt to win their 3rd straight game.

The Carolina Hurricanes reminded everyone of who they are in a 4-2 win over the Penguins on Saturday night at PNC Arena. Canes lack consistency and conviction in 3-1 loss to Flyers

The Hurricanes couldn't overcome their own sloppiness and missed chances as they lost to the Flyers, 3-1, at PNC Arena. It was Carolina's first loss of the season on home ice and a bad way to start a 5-game home stand. Stefan Noesen scored the Canes' lone goal, but Carolina had several great chances to put pucks behind Philadelphia's goaltender Carter Hart. Teravainen's third career hat trick and 20 saves from Antti Raanta boost the Hurricanes to a 3-0 win over San Jose. Andrei Svechnikov played his first game since March 11 as he returns from knee surgery. Teravainen's 7 goals leads the Hurricanes and is tied for 2nd in the league. Carolina played a much better game, but still fell to Tampa Bay, 3-0. The Canes allowed a power play goal late in the first period that proved to be enough for the Lightning. Brayden Point's deflection of a Victor Hedman shot fluttered past Pyotr Kochetkov for the only goal the Bolts would need, sending the Canes to their 3rd straight loss.
