Jake Guentzel scored twice, the first coming with 5:30 left in the second period to finally get one past Washington goaltender Darcy Kuemper. Then Guentzel capped the scoring into an empty net running his total to 5 goals since coming to the Hurricanes. Pyotr Kochetkov made 14 saves on the night.

The Bruins scored 3 times in the first 11 minutes and the Hurricanes never recovered. Brad Marchand, David Pasternak and Danton Heinin scored as the Canes were a defensive mess in their first game in 5 days.
