The Carolina Hurricanes completed their summer of contract signings with arguably their most important return. Seth Jarvis, the breakout star of 2024, signed an 8-year extension that will pay him $63.2 million over the life of the contract. Even though the average number is $7.9 million, the deal will only count for just over $7.4 million against the cap. I'll explain how, we'll discuss how the team approached the summer and the bad news on Jesper Fast.

Martin Necas is back with the Canes. He signed a 2-year deal worth $13 million. Now what? And, how does this impact negotiations with Seth Jarvis?

Canes can't hold 3-1, 3rd period lead and the run ends with a 5-3 loss in Game 6. Martin Necas, Seth Jarvis and Sebastian Aho each scored as the Hurricanes built a 3-1 lead through 2 periods. Andrei Svechnikov only missed one game, but the Hurricanes had been wihtout the real Andrei for the last several weeks. 17 seconds into their game with Columbus, Andrei scored past Malcom Subban and the Hurricanes were off and running in a 3-0 win.
