Canes hold off Jackets, 3-2, as Kochetkov sets record

Pyotr Kochetkov won his 9th straight game to start the season as the Hurricanes beat the Blue Jackets, 3-2. His 24 save performance allows Pyotr to set the franchise record for consecutive season-opening victories, breaking the tie with former Hurricanes goalie Frederik Andersen that was set in the opening stretch of the 2021-22 season. Jordan Martinook, Logan Stankoven and Mark Jankowski each scored and Seth Jarvis dished off a couple of assists as the Canes had a 3-0 lead 16 seconds into the 3rd period. But, three penalties later the Blue Jackets had closed within a goal and Carolina had to sweat it out the rest of the way. The Hurricanes are 11-2-2 on the season, the best record in the NHL.
