“Crisis Next Door”: fentanyl is killing North Carolinians

More than 4000 people in North Carolina died from drug overdoses in 2021. This is the highest number of drug-abuse deaths ever recorded in our state in a single year. 77% of those deaths involved fentanyl according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
