WNBA All Star Weekend: Do Players Deserve To Be Paid More?

Reese, Pam and Alex discuss the WNBA All Star Weekend and the players wanting to be paid more.

This past weekend in the WNBA was all about All-Star festivities, major performances, and strong messages both on and off the court. Off the court, players used the high-profile stage to bring attention to labor issues, wearing shirts reading “Pay Us What You Owe Us” and leading fans in chants of “Pay them!”—a clear signal to the league as the current collective bargaining agreement nears expiration in October. Do WNBA players deserve more?

On the court, the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game took place in Indianapolis, where Team Collier defeated Team Clark 151–131. Napheesa Collier earned MVP honors and Skylar Diggins made history with the first-ever triple-double in an All-Star Game. In the All-Star skills competitions, Natasha Cloud of the New York Liberty won the Skills Challenge and Sabrina Ionescu took her second 3-Point Contest title, later announcing she would split her prize with rookie Sonia Citron in a show of mentorship and solidarity. Meanwhile, GloRilla headlined the halftime show, highlighting the deep ties between hip-hop and women’s basketball. Caitlin Clark was sidelined with a groin injury but stayed engaged during events, supporting her teammates throughout the weekend.
