In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s murder, several historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) across the United States received threats that prompted lockdowns, class cancellations, and heightened security measures. Affected institutions included Alabama State University, Virginia State University, Hampton University, Southern University in Baton Rouge, Bethune‑Cookman University, and Clark Atlanta University, among others. Some of these threats were described as “terroristic” in nature. Why is this happening?
