Texas Defeats Texas Tech in Game 1 of Women's College World Series Championship

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss the women's college world series championship.

In the opening game of the 2025 Women's College World Series (WCWS) championship series, the Texas Longhorns edged out the Texas Tech Red Raiders 2-1 last night. The game was a tense pitchers' duel between Texas' Teagan Kavan and Texas Tech's NiJaree Canady.

Texas Tech took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning, but the Longhorns responded in the bottom half. With runners in scoring position, Reese Atwood stepped up to the plate. Texas Tech attempted an intentional walk to Atwood, but she swung at the 3-0 pitch and delivered a two-run single, giving Texas a 2-1 lead that they held onto for the win. What was Canady doing?

With this victory, Texas is now one win away from securing the national championship. Game 2 of the best-of-three series is scheduled for tonight at 8pm. If necessary, Game 3 will take place tomorrow night at 8pm.

The North Carolina Tar Heels seem to be investing a lot in the basketball program. What are the Tar Heels doing?
