Despite compiling a strong overall record of 104-45 during his tenure and leading the Nittany Lions to a recent College Football Playoff appearance, the program's continued struggles this season ultimately led to his dismissal. The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Missouri Tigers 27–24 in a tightly contested SEC matchup on Saturday, handing the Tigers their first home loss in over two years.
