NFL: What Are Three Takeaways From Week 1?

Reese, Pam and Alex discuss their 3 takeaways from Week 1 action in the NFL.

Aaron Rodgers made his debut with the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend, leading a dramatic 34–32 comeback win over his former team, the New York Jets. Rodgers threw four touchdown passes and completed 22 of 30 passes for 244 yards. With just over a minute remaining, Chris Boswell nailed a franchise-record 60-yard field goal to seal the victory.

At Lambeau Field, the Green Bay Packers kicked off their season with a 27-13 win over the Detroit Lions. Jordan Love led the charge with two first-half touchdown passes, while Green Bay’s defense stifled Detroit, holding them to just three points in the opening two quarters. Micah Parsons also made his Packers debut and played well.

The Jacksonville Jaguars overcame a weather delay to defeat the Carolina Panthers 26–10 yesterday. Linebacker Foye Oluokun anchored the defense with 10 tackles, an interception, and a forced fumble, accounting for 10 of Jacksonville’s points. Panthers QB Bryce Young struggled with multiple turnovers and poor execution throughout.

The Indianapolis Colts delivered a statement-opening performance by crushing the Miami Dolphins 33-8. Daniel Jones made his Colts debut, tallying 257 passing yards, three total touchdowns (including two rushing). The Colts’ defense dominated as well, forcing three turnovers on Tua Tagovailoa—including two interceptions and a strip sack.

What are three takeaways from Week 1 of the NFL season? Are the Steelers legit? Are the Dolphins the worst team in the NFL? Are the Packers Super Bowl contenders?
