NBA Summer League: Recapping Cooper Flagg vs Bronny James

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss the performances of Cooper Flagg and Bronny James last night.

Cooper Flagg made his much-anticipated NBA Summer League debut last night as the Dallas Mavericks edged out the Los Angeles Lakers 87-85. Flagg finished with a stat line of 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block in 32 minutes. While the numbers reflected his all-around game, it was an uneven night overall—he shot just 5-of-21 from the field (23.8%) and missed all five of his 3-point attempts. Notably, he was scoreless in the second half.

Despite his offensive struggles, Flagg made several key plays that helped seal the win. After the game, Flagg was candid, calling it “one of the worst games of my life” and admitting that it wasn’t up to his personal standard.

Flagg’s debut was far from perfect, but it offered a glimpse into his high ceiling. With the rust shaken off and more games ahead, there’s strong reason to believe this was just the first step in what could be a special NBA career. What do you think? What grade would you give Cooper Flagg for his performance last night? What did you think of Bronny James?
