Opening Night of the 2025-26 NBA season delivered. The defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder edged out the Houston Rockets in a thrilling double-overtime battle, winning 125-124 on their ring night. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge for OKC, dropping 35 points, with 24 of them coming in the fourth quarter and overtimes. On the Rockets’ side, Alperen Şengün was dominant, finishing with 39 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists in a historic opening night performance, though it ultimately wasn’t enough.
In the other marquee matchup, the Golden State Warriors took down the Los Angeles Lakers 119-109. Luka Dončić put on a show for L.A. with 43 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists, a near triple-double.
