LSU Fires Brian Kelly: What Went Wrong? + HBCU Football Recap
Reese, Kmac Pam and Alex discuss LSU firing Brian Kelly, HBCU Football and more.
Brian Kelly was fired as head coach of the LSU Tigers football team yesterday following a 49-25 home loss to the Texas A&M Aggies that dropped LSU to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in SEC play. The loss appeared to be the final straw for the program, which had struggled to meet expectations under Kelly’s leadership. Kelly, who signed a 10-year, $100M contract with LSU in 2021, compiled a 34-14 overall record and a 19-10 mark in the SEC during his tenure. Despite some success early in his stint, including an SEC West title, the team failed to maintain championship-level performance. LSU now faces a massive buyout estimated between $50M and $54M as part of Kelly’s guaranteed contract. Why are there so many firings in college football?
There was a ton of HBCU Football over the weekend. The Alabama State Hornets dominated Reese’s Alabama A&M Bulldogs 56-13. The Delaware State Hornets defeated the North Carolina Central Eagles 35-26. What happened to NCCU and Alabama A&M?
