Monica McMillan is one of the creatives at Taste of BLK (Black) and Dionne Lester is the chief financial officer for North Carolina Black Alliance. McMillan and Lester join the Sports Shop to discuss an event. “Nourished by the Movement: 25th Anniversary NCBA Fundraiser” is a celebratory gathering hosted by the North Carolina Black Alliance on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at The Lincoln on Geer in Durham, North Carolina. The immersive event honors 25 years of the NCBA’s work in advancing social and political change across the state. Blending food, culture and history, it invites guests to experience the energy of a community cookout and the warmth of family fellowship. Through curated spaces inspired by traditional Black gathering places, attendees are encouraged to reflect, connect and celebrate the people and traditions that have sustained Black movements for generations. The evening, presented in partnership with Taste of BLK, promises a rich celebration of resilience, culture and collective empowerment.
