The 2026 Winter Olympic Games concluded yesterday, with a festive closing ceremony at the Arena di Verona in Italy, celebrating sport, culture, and the Olympic spirit before the flag was handed over to the next host city. One of the biggest highlights was Team USA winning the men’s ice hockey gold medal for the first time since 1980, defeating Canada 2-1 in overtime with a thrilling late goal. The United States also had a standout overall performance, capturing a record number of gold medals for a single Winter Olympics and excelling in freestyle skiing, speed skating, alpine skiing, bobsleigh, and figure skating. Eileen Gu further cemented her status as the most decorated freestyle skier in Olympic history by defending her halfpipe title. Great Britain celebrated its most successful Winter Olympics ever, finishing with five medals, including multiple golds in skeleton, snowboard cross, and halfpipe. Norway dominated the medal count, led by exceptional performances in cross‑country skiing. What did you think of the Olympics?
