North Carolina Central University (NCCU) faced off against Southern University this past Saturday, August 23, 2025, in the 2025 Cricket MEAC/SWAC Challenge at Center Parc Stadium in Atlanta. The game kicked off at 7:30 p.m. ET and resulted in a decisive 31–14 victory for NCCU. After falling behind early due to explosive plays by Southern—an impressive 69-yard touchdown run by quarterback Cam’Ron McCoy and an 80-yard scoring burst by Trey Holly—NCCU regrouped and dominated the rest of the contest.
Running back Chris Mosley led the way for the Eagles, rushing for approximately 180 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown, earning him MVP honors. Quarterback Walker Harris also delivered an efficient performance, completing 19 of 24 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. NCCU’s offense clicked in the second half with three different running backs scoring touchdowns, while the defense completely shut down Southern’s attack after halftime. The win marked a strong season-opening statement for NCCU, showcasing both depth and discipline on both sides of the ball.
