Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex speak with Dr. Deborah Stroman.

Dr. Stroman joins the Sports Shop to discuss The Masters, the potential NCAA shake-up versus tweaks, the five-year eligibility rule and more.

Right now, the NCAA has not changed its core eligibility rule, athletes still have five years to play four seasons once they enroll full-time in college. However, there is growing momentum to change that system. Some proposals would allow athletes to compete in five full seasons instead of four and Division II has already discussed versions of this idea, though no final decision has been made and any change is still years away. At the same time, coaches and even lawmakers have pushed for more flexibility, including expanded eligibility windows, while recent lawsuits from athletes have begun to challenge the NCAA’s authority over these limits. Altogether, while nothing is official yet, there is clear pressure building that could eventually lead to a shift toward a more flexible eligibility model, possibly including five seasons of competition. What should happen?
