Southern University announced yesterday that head football coach Terrence Graves had been fired following a disappointing 3-24 homecoming loss to Prairie View A&M. At the time of his dismissal, the team held a 1-6 overall record for the season. Athletic Director Roman Banks acknowledged that while Graves brought energy and had personal ties to the university, the team’s performance on the field was unacceptable. The university has launched a national search for a permanent replacement, and in the meantime, Fred McNair has been named interim head coach. What is next for Southern?
