What’s the point of having picks, when it comes to the Ryder Cup?

Was he concerned, at all, that there’d be any pushback when it comes to LIV and Brooks Koepka and the tour? Was there ever a consideration to take Dustin Johnson? He’s also seen a lot of blow back about Justin Thomas. Did he think Lucas Glover had a chance?
