Canes score three times early, hold on for 3-2 win over Seattle
The Carolina Hurricanes got goals from Andrei Svechnikov, Derek Stepan and Stefan Noesen in a 3-2 win over the Seattle Kraken in their return to PNC Arena for the first time in 19 days. Svechnikov's 16th of the year came off a turnover midway through the first period. Then another forced mistake led to Stepan's 1st, a whistling wrist shot just below the crossbar that beat Seattle's Philipp Grubauer. Stefan Noesen's penal;ty shot goal 2 minutes into the 3rd closed out their scoring. It was the first penalty shot goal Carolina's scored since January of 2016 (Elias Lindholm). Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 15 of the 17 shots he saw for his 8th win (8-1-4). It was his 11th appearance in the last 12 games for the Canes. Carolina is now 4 points behind the Devils in the Metropolitan Division after New Jersey lost at home to the Flyers.
